Assuming we are talking tube amps, and output transformers? Check out Transcendent Sound. There is a lot of info on their website and forum. At least a good start.

First One some say is a great transistor amp with no transformer.

On the DIY Forum, a lot of guys are impressed with the amps designed by Lazy Cat.  With regards to First One mosfet amp module:
Full kit includes module, SMPS power supply, chassis, all for 690 Euro.  There is a lot of buzz on this one.
