That is a nice presentation.

I believe that there are at least three major philosophies concerning the "assault weapon" ban in the national legislatures.  First is the "We gotta' do something because kids have died" crowd. That are well meaning folks, but totally unrealistic. Second is the "we really don't want to do anything aboui it, but a good part of our constituency expects us to try, so we will but not very hard." if legislation is defeated, they get what they want, no action but they look good. The third group is the "We can't have any gun reform laws at all. They infringe on... etc." The vast majority of legislators are 2 or 3 types. Nothing is going to happen.

Hell, gun runners sneak in AK-47 weapons from China, and nobody seems overly concerned about that. And they do fire rock & roll. I don't think anything is going to happen, and the issue will die, provided nobody shoots up a church. Meanwhile, gun shops are overcharging panicking customers.
