Hi guys
How do I configure the crown for running just one sub?
The Mrs is getting pissed off after redecorating so one has to go  Sad

Take a look at the manual.  It runs in bridged mode and low pass.  The manual will tell you which output terminals to use.  Simple stuff.  Smiley

Oh, and you'll need a y-connector to sum the inputs.

I found the manual.  Connect the summed input wire to the RCA input jack for channel 1.  Connect the speaker wires using the channel 1 positive output  for the positive speaker wire and the channel 2 positive output for the negative speaker wire.

So... teachers decided to march on Raleigh NC today and neglect their obligation to work.  These assmonkeys aren't unionized as NC employees can't unionize.  The budget has been set for a few weeks.  Nothing they do can change that.  School kids suffer from another missed class and no one has the balls to penalize them.  If I had the power, they would be fired.

Assmonkeys can be replaced easily.

Also, their starting salaries are the same as local govt. engineers annually; they get the same pay for 9 1/2 months of work.

P.S. My girlfriend is a teacher and worked today.  Smiley

Yes Michel, get something better than a phone before making a decision.  Invest in a good preamp and take the phone out of the loop.  If you are bent on streaming, get tidal hifi and a Topping d10.  The d10 streams from various sources and does well.  However; it needs more than a phone to be satisfying.

Nice Michel,
It appears you are on the way to happiness.  And, I preordered the single box version although I have monos in separate boxes.  I'm thinking of getting the diyaudio mono boxes and abandoning my homemade ones.  So, there may be a sale coming soon if I do that.

I hope you enjoy your ACA as I have.

You can preorder an ACA kit now.  It's in one chassis and has some upgraded parts such as better connectors and a 24v power supply.  Also, it's in one chassis.  With shipping, it's about $350.  If you are interested in a simple, inexpensive and great little amp for the Horns, jump on it before they sell out (again).  Wink

Thanks Ed and Helen for opening your home for me and others to have a good time.  And, thanks to Kris for smoking that pork and turkey!  It was nice to see everyone and did me well to escape for a couple of days.  Smiley

I got the little Topping today and it sounded really good even with the cheap supplied usb cable.  I'll bring it along with a Chromebook for grins.

I'm certainly no tech head, but I may have a cheapo Topping usb dac and we could use my tidal hifi account to try out.  I may pick it up at the PO this week, maybe not.

Just a thought.  Maybe someone can help me figure out what to do with it...

I do like tidal, it is really okay with Chromecast audio.  I like the no-wires aspect between it and the laptop.

It depresses me because I grew up there and had relatively good people running the show.  Now it's populated by the likes of idiots, transplants and thieves.

Martin, I re-read your first post and checked into your speakers with the upper 80's efficiency rating.  I'd recommend either the Ultravalve or Mivera amp of the ones which I'm familiar.  I just don't think you'll find the ACA nor a low-powered SET adequate to push them as needed.

Best of luck, Henry

Check out the washing machine repair video.  You'll know what I mean. Wink

Hello Henry, I follow the link but it says product not found...I am also following the Romeyn amps..based in an HYpex you know how they compare? ANd just in case you know: I read a SET amp is something special etc...ANd i am following an used Coincident Frankenstein is only 8 watts you have any experience in single ended SET and what is your opinion compared to the mivera? Thanky you, martin
Hey Martin, Yes it doesn't exist as he's making his own enclosures that are nicer and heavier now... and of course more expensive.  The insides are the same and you can see them if you click on the Icepower Shop tab at the top.  He has a standard and premium version.  I have the premium parts except for the binding posts.  I think the two are $1500 and $1800 respectively now.

Based on what I've read, I'd shy away from the hypex technology.

SETs are really nice and smooth with great midrange.  Nice with Horns.  They tend to lack bass resolution and slam, but they are delightful in many ways.  SETs sound natural and right imparting a non-fatiguing ease to music. I have a couple in the house and won't give them up.  I have two el-84 and one 300b . The 300b is a great tube IMO, but pricey.

Also, many here have Transcendent Sound OTLs that offer more solid state bass accuracy.  And don't discount the Amp Camp Amp.  diyAudio had them in stock for about two days, then sold out again.  They should be back soon and you can get on the notification list.  Easy to build and now in one chassis.  Great with Horns and well under $1000. You could buy a kit and chassis and pay someone to assemble it and still be well within budget.
If you decide the ACA is for you, grab a chassis (April 15) and then jump on the parts when they notify you.

I haven't heard the Coincident amps, but I've read good things about them.

I'm using the Mivera amp with big Bozaks and the Ultravalve with the Horns.

As Ed says: "Choices are bad."  Smiley

Dieter, of course you can post anything here about anything...

Hey Ed, I have a bad case of red ass and joined the NRA for another five years.  I'm not willing to have a fifth grade robot to tell me how to live.
